Hi all,
as I am sure you are all aware you can engrave various things like logo's and words using .ply files and the add polygon tool in woodwop, my question is does any anyone know how to generate compatible files from an image file?
.PLY files

DXF import. it's the only way i've found to do it. you can use a lot of free online tools to convert graphics to dxf outlines and use the DXF import (if you have autocad to correctly name the layer) and it will auto create a PLY file. from there you can do with it what you wish in woodwop.

ok so I have my DXF file, I have tried all sorts in LibreCad (a free version of Autocad but not the same) I just cannot get woodwop to import without errors, I know this has to do with the layers and tools etc. I just cannot get my head around it....

This is where I hit a wall without AutoCAD (and an AutoCAD person to do it). The layer name is what is getting you. The layer name of the contour you want to import MUST be named properly or the import app won't 'see' it. The layer name has to be Poly_<depth>NM<name> so I use Poly_2NM1234 and it will create a contour 2mm deep named 1234.ply. If you want to make a little sense of it the following helps.

This is what I am trying to create a .ply for, it's the logo of a band that my girlfriend manages.

layer name isn't there. i'll see if i can persuade one of my drafters to do a little side job. no promises though.

Hello bastler there seems to be a rouge cut in the lefthand corner that I cannot see in woodwop?

Thats much appreciated Steve, I'd love to know how this is done as I am constantly asked to add logo's to people's jobs.

Hello,
Short background: I purchased a used 1999 Weeke BP 150 and have been restoring it back to original. The machine has WoodWOP 4.0 with the DXF import feature. I've finally designed a sign for my wood shop am am trying to get it cut out on the machine.
Progress so far: I created the art in Adobe Illustrator and then flattened all the illustrator layers and then saved the file as a DXF. Then I opened the file in AutoCAD and named the layer Poly_15NMlogo and exported that file as a DXF.
Question: Does the black area of the art represent the material to be removed? If not, how do I create a "poly" or "freeform" shape that is essentially a pocket? I've attached my DXF file for reference.
Thank you.

Hello Bigler,
There are no objects in your DXF file.
Greetings Jürgen
